Collaborative member Kenji Hakuta has co-authored a policy brief from the Policy Analysis for California Education research center, How Next-Generation Standards and Assessments Can Foster Success for California’s English Learners. The report builds on the work done by the Understanding Language Initiative at Stanford University, a national project to address the challenges and opportunities presented by the Common Core State Standards for English learners (ELs).
This third in a series of briefs about the Partnership looks more deeply at two specific areas of focus for the Partnership—mathematics and English Learners—demonstrating that different kinds of cross-district learning can occur depending upon the degree to which work is shared across districts.
