This document contains demographic information about Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD) and California student enrollment from 2023–24 across key demographic categories. In addition to students’ ethnicity/race and the overall “unduplicated count” of Local Control Funding Formula-targeted students, the data also indicate the specific percentages of students who have been identified as English learners, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, foster youth, and special education students.

We have excerpted several slides presented to the SCUSD school board in summer 2023. Two slides display SCUSD’s math performance on state standardized tests as compared to other nearby school districts. The remaining slides show SCUSD’s overall student enrollment compared to SCUSD’s student enrollment in accelerated math courses, disaggregated by grade levels 6 through 12.

To provide context on SCUSD’s student performance, we are including a set of charts that display the district’s state assessment results from 2009 through 2024. This compilation includes district-wide results, results by student demographic groups, and information on how SCUSD compares to similar districts and the state overall. Notably, while SCUSD’s math performance has historically been higher than the state average, it ranks lower compared to other, similar districts in the state and varies by student demographics. The last five pages focus solely on state-wide results in performance. Some charts do not include 2014 test results (due to the state’s transition to the Common Core State Standards), and 2020 and 2021 test results (due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
