California Collaborative Members Present the State’s Race to the Top Proposal
Nineteen Race to the Top finalists traveled to Washington, D.C. during the week of August 9th to present their state’s proposals to a panel of judges. The delegation presenting California’s application included three Collaborative members—Chief Deputy Superintendent Geno Flores of the California Department of Education, Mike Hanson of Fresno USD, and Christopher Steinhauser of Long Beach USD—as well as Superintendent Ramon Cortines of Los Angeles USD and Secretary of Education Bonnie Reiss. Seven California districts, including five Collaborative districts, led the application process for the state’s Phase 2 submission. California’s presentation slides are available at California’s Race to the Top website.
